In the operation of a mine surrounding the Anglo America community, we were challenged to enhance the association’s worth and the benefits flowing to the Anglo America community.
Based on extensive multi-stakeholder dialogue, we found that the success of the strategy was dependent on the combination of the development of individual community members and acquiring community-broad assets such as roads, sewer systems, lightning, shopping centers and an enterprise development fund.
We developed an economic vision in order to optimize the current resources generated from the mining activities and to invest in the sustainable development of the (local) economy. Stakeholder engagement, local ownership and sustainability were at the heart of this approach.
